Running Out the Fort Pierce Inlet: What Locals Know
Fort Pierce Inlet is the most reliable deep-water gateway between Sebastian and Jupiter. It's also one of the most current-driven inlets on the Treasure Coast. Here's how locals time it.

Tide rules
- Run OUT on the last of the incoming or slack high — flat exit, no standing waves on the bar
- Run IN on incoming — outgoing tide against an east wind builds a steep, short chop right at the mouth
- Avoid maximum ebb (about 3 hrs after high tide) with any east wind > 15 kt — that's where boats get rolled
Best launches for offshore boats
- Stan Blum (Causeway Island) — closest to the inlet, deep paved ramps, lots of trailer parking
- Harbortown Marina ramp — gated, premium, easy in/out for 30+ ft trailers
- Taylor Creek (north) — fine for skinny boats, tight for offshore rigs
Fuel & marine help once you're out
